Hello Ocean View Community,
Welcome to the 2017-18 school year! I’m excited to see all the new and returning Dolphins. It is an honor to be the principal of Ocean View and I look forward to getting the school year underway. One of the pleasures of being at Ocean View is getting to work with such a wonderful and dedicated staff.
We at Ocean View are committed to creating a safe and caring atmosphere for all our students. We believe that all students can grow and increase their knowledge base. The purpose of school is to educate children and get them prepared for life after school. As a staff we are continually working and reflecting on how best to educate our great students. While we take the education and well-being of our students seriously, we also believe that learning and school can be fun.
Students excel at Ocean View when there is a strong partnership of parents and the school. Both want to help our students reach their potential, which is accomplished when parents and teachers work together. I encourage you to regularly check on your student’s progress and contact your child’s teacher when you have questions or concerns. Have an ongoing dialogue with your child about what they are learning about in the classroom and what is happening on the playground.
There are opportunities to become involved at Ocean View. Joining and being a part of the PTA is a great way to get involved. The PTA does so much for our children to make their days more enjoyable. Volunteering in the classroom is another option. Speak with your child’s teacher about how you might be able to help in their classroom.
The Kindergarten Roundup is August 8, 2017 and please show up at your testing time. The first day of school is Tuesday, August 15, 2017. For our kindergarten students, school begins at 8:00 am with a dismissal time of 11:25 am. For all other students, school begins at 8:10 am with a dismissal at 2:25 pm.
Welcome to Ocean View and have a great school year!
